The significance of the birthday card is to convey hope and good will to the person receiving the birthday card. People now use birthday cards as a way to tell the special person of their true feelings that they may find a little difficult to express verbally.
The birthday card now falls into the category of a greeting card. The greeting card can be traced all the way back to the ancient Chinese. They would send out goodwill wish cards during the New Year. The Chinese are not the only ones who thought to do this; in Europe in the 1400s, people also exchanged homemade greeting cards which in time became a tradition.
Interactive birthday cards can play in CD-ROM drives, DVD drives and CD audio devices. These birthday cards are characterized by colorful graphics, sound and animation. They carry special messages with a personal touch. Some of the personalized e-cards feature cards with names, date, and pre-printed poems.
Humorous: These are among the most popular birthday invitation cards that are sent. They provide a light-hearted approach to the event. Age-related, personality-centered or puns on words and themes are all part of the funny card category. Witty quotes, silly jokes, pop-ups and even risque and naughty jokes can be part of the humorous card design.
When sending a birthday card through the mail the card should arrive one day before or on the actual birthday of the one receiving the card. The advent of the modern postal system has helped swell the numbers of cards sent dramatically from the days that the card was delivered by horse and cart.
A birthday card is a card with illustrations and contains a special message for the celebrator. The card usually comes with an envelope. Birthday cards show messages related to the work place, family life, spiritual life, cultural influences, positive outlook on aging and more. There are special cards that do not have messages written inside, allowing people to write their own message.
